At the beginning of the month The Knights visited the beautiful County of Cornwall to perform our unique and entertaining Jousting Show at the Devon and Cornwall Countryman’s Fair set in the beautiful estate of Werrington Park. The weather was not particularly kind to us and it was no surprise that we had some rain! But in spite of it the warm welcoming Cornish crowds came out in their thousands to cheer on their favourite Knight and so in the end a fabulous weekend was had by all!

Forget 2012 being the Chinese year of the Dragon or the year of the home London Olympics… for the Knights 2012 is the year of The Stag Do! With at least 2 a month since March!! With a variety of packages ranging from half a day of Jousting activates to full weekend all inclusive packages, whatever you want to do the Knights have the perfect Stag (or Hen!) Do package with a difference for you! For more information about the different packages we offer check out our Stag and Hen packages Page or get in Contact for more details.

As usual we are also busy with our Jousting Tuition teaching private and group lessons leading up to the next Amateur Jousting Tournament. The gauntlet has been thrown down and the challenge declared… For those wishing to compete for the coveted Amateur Jousting Tournament Winner’s Shield or looking to come and cheer on their favourite knight-in-training the next Tournament will be on Sunday 14th October here at our base in Warwick. We look forward to seeing you then!

In preparation for the Tournament we are holding a Group Lesson Day on 23rd September and have a special 2012 lesson price offer on particular dates running up to the Tournament. For more information about either of these please do Get in Touch!

The Jousting School is also busy with our monthly Trick Riding and Horse Archery workshops. This month we hosted another of our ever popular Trick Riding workshops giving you the opportunity to have a go at some classical vaulting moves as well as Cossack tricks and stands all on our specially trained horses on the safety of the lunge with the emphasis being on having fun whilst having a go!

Next month is the month for Horse Archery with workshops running on Saturday 30th September. For more information about the different courses we run at the Jousting School Click here or Contact us for more information or to book a place on one of our fun and exciting courses.

The Knights have also been busy filming for a new 6 part documentary series wich will be airing on Sky in November/December time. Testing wepons of war throughout the ages, we have been investigating how the invention of the stirrup, different types of lances and the cavalry sabre would all have been used against the enemy in battle on horseback. Look out for more information about the series and the dates when it will be airing later on in the year...!

September also sees the return of Skills for Actors for another of our sell out Horse Riding for Actors 5 day residential courses. Available for complete non-riders and experienced riders alike we spend 5 days teaching actors those all important equestrian skills necessary when working with horses on set. Taught by our very own trained actor Karl Ude-Martinez, who has vast experience working with horses for Film and TV, and the excellent WISR teaching team the actors learnt what to expect when partaking in a riding audition through to controlling their horse whilst hitting their marks and delivering a line!

For those who want to come and see the Knights in action we also have 2 shows coming up in September. The first is a private event for the RAF Brize Norton Families Day. The largest army base in Europe Families Day is a way to say ‘thank you’ to all family and friends who support all the officers who do such a fantastic job out of the base. This is the second barracks Families Day that we have been involved with and a proud to be able to do our bit for our fantastic armed forces.

Our second show in September is at the local Dallas Burston Polo Club at their annual Polo in the Park event on Sunday 16th September. As well as our exciting Jousting Show there will be high octane games of polo, a children’s fun fair complete with rides, art displays, music and conclude with a giant Asado and end of season after-party.
